Sleeping with a dog. Does it need a blanket?

Question by Technoronicjonic: Sleeping with a dog. Does it need a blanket?
do i give my dog a blanket when shes on my bed? or do i just let her sleep on top of the blanket. It’s really cold where I live. So should I let her have a blanket, and on hot days without one? Is it necessary to have a blanket for a dog on a bed?

It depends on her fur length. When my cat sleeps on my bed, he’ll sleep under the covers when he’s cold, and on my belly or legs when he’s not.

Looking Up a Dog Shampoo

When you are looking for the best, most effective dog shampoo, you can always rely on yourself in choosing the best shampoo for your dog. As a pet owner you can always bank on your intuition. That is if you know your dog well.

Getting through the process of selecting the best dog shampoo for your dog can take a lot of deep thinking. The results are always rewarding. If you find yourself in a pinch, you can always cheat by asking your pet\’s vet. There\’s no harm in there right?

You might find it a bit confounding if you see the rows of dog shampoos on department store. I myself have been overwhelmed with the different categories, purposes, prices and scents. These factors do not guarantee your dog a healthy skin and coat.

When selecting a dog shampoo do not lose sight of your main objective which is to get the value of your money and get the best returns for the shampoo you buy. Aside from your budget, you have to value the outcomes of the shampoo on your dog. You can select a dog shampoo according to these three categories:

Quality Ingredients – With the right ingredients you can give your dog a healthy coat. Read the ingredients well and see if your dog might have reacted to any of these components. Take down the ph level and also the scent of the shampoo.

Efficacy – Can this shampoo give you great results in the shortest time? Choose one that can also produce good results without using too much of the shampoo.

Cost effectiveness – Shampoos are designed for different needs such as dirt removals or parasitic elimination. A shampoo that can give you both characteristics but is relatively priced is a good buy.

Selecting a good shampoo depends on the instinct and intuitiveness on a pet owner. This helps your dog achieve healthy skin.

Whether you are choosing a pedigree pup or a homeless pound dog care must be taken to ensure it is healthy right from the start. Most shelters will have given their dogs a thorough check-up before putting them up for adoption, and any long term medical issues will be declared.

If you buy direct from the breeder, make sure that the parents have been tested for genetic problems such as hip dysplasia. Try to make sure there is no history of ailments in the breeding; the pup should be free from sniffles and have good clear eyes. A pup that seems lethargic may have an infection, so choose a bouncy one or make sure he has been checked by a vet before taking him.

When you get your new pal home, follow any special instructions that might have been given to you by the rescue center or breeder. Pups need to be wormed regularly and you can easily get the tablets from your vet or pet store. They may need vaccinations for diseases such as parvovirus, distemper, and parainfluenza if they haven\’t already had them and a booster shot when they are a year old.

While you may think that the odd treat is not a problem, dogs like humans can become obese putting strain on their heart and lungs. You should stick to a balanced diet and cut down their food if they are becoming overweight. Some large breeds grow too quickly if their diet is protein rich. Breeds like Great Danes can develop joint problems in later life if they get too tall too fast; take advice on feeding if you are not sure what is best for them.

Many breeds have beautiful long or curly coats. They need regular grooming and clipping to prevent matting and possible infections around the eyes and anus. If you have to bath your pet, use a mild shampoo or one formulated for dogs that will help treat fleas and ticks.

You can prevent most fleas and ticks with regular drops to the back of the neck, or injections. The drops make the skin unfriendly to parasites, but can also harm you dog, so place them on the back of his neck where he can\’t lick. Prevention is better than cure; as no matter how careful you are, it is easy for them to pick up parasites when out for a walk. A bad infestation can cause terrible skin rashes and lead to infections.

Regular exercise, good grooming, a balanced diet and lots of loving will make your dog a loyal companion for life. Whether he is a pedigree or a pound dog care for him and he will take care of you.
