It’s soft, and it’s like a toy.

He doesn’t know the difference between one soft thing (stuffie) and another (blanket). It’s just like how babies like to chew on blankets.

Maybe he’s bored. Get him a snuggly toy to chew on!

Question by Natalie Leah: My Guinea Pig Jumps When I Pet Him. Please Read.?
I have had my American guinea pig Cocoa for about 4 months now and he is 5 months old. I’ve been reading I should get him a friend, so I decided to do just that. I bought a black Abyssinian pig that is 6 months old and have been trying to get them to be friends. Right now they are living in the same cage but it is divided so they don’t have contact with eachother, but they can see each other. I take them out for floor time together twice a day for about 2 hours each time and they seem to get along very well.
My question is, Cocoa is very used to me and lets me pet him but doesnt like to be held, and when i take them out for floor time he will popcorn like crazy and squeak and just talk (it’s so cute! i think he’s so much happier wiht a friend) BUT, Skunk, (the new pig) just kinda walks around, doesn’t make any noises and kinds follows Cocoa or will just sit there and watch Cocoa popcorn but doesn’t do anything. He sometimes talks back to Cocoa, but very rarely. Now I’ve only had Skunk for 2 days, so is he just nervous and still getting used to everything?
My other question is, when I pet Skunk, he will flip out! Cocoa has never done this, but whne I pet skunk on his bum, or back he kicks his legs up and tries to run away like i’m hurting him. The I went to pet him on his back and he turned around and bit me and broke skin. Is he okay? Or is he just onry? He kinda seems okay when I wrap him in a fleece blanket and pet him, but even then he squirms to try and get away.
ALSO!
Cocoa is obsessed with his veggies! He loves his apples, lettuce, green peppers and such But skunk wont even touch his veggies I try to feed him by hand, but he sniffs it and walks away. Was this because he has never been given veggies before? I feel so bad for him, how do i get him to eat his veggies? The only thing he kinda will eat is Parsley.
he hasnt really touched his pellet food, maybe just a little. I feed them those yogurt drops once a day and he ate that, and he will eat parsley, so I’ve been feeding him a lot of that, but he’s a lot thinner and lighter than cocoa too, which i think is weird, since cocoa is younger. Should i take skunk to the vet??
oh and skunk loves his timothy hay, he will eat that

does he eat his pet food? also you shuold let skunk get used to you by letting him sniff you. this works for my cats, when you take them out and go toward them and they start to run away stop moving and let them sniff you to gain thier trust. hope this helps

With all the different options of blankets these days there is one for every need. Whether you need a blanket to keep you warm at night or to keep you clean and dry at a sporting event there is one out there.

The term fleece often causes confusion, because it is sometimes used to describe part of the wool of sheep. Fleece in the context of a fleece blanket refers to a specific polyester fabric with no wool content.  There is a large variety of fleece but the most well known is polar fleece.

To make fleece fabric first you take the polyester yarn and twist it tightly. Then the fabric is brushed with a rough wire to tighten it and raise the surface. The fabric is then sheared to even out the surface. Almost all fleece is made as a non-pill. Non-pill fleece does not get the little balls after being washed a few times and the texture is nicer.

Fleece blankets come in a wide variety textures. The top may be smooth, almost velvet like, while the bottom may be similar to felt. There are three main weight categories of fleece which can be used for a fleece blanket, depending on how warm of a blanket is desired.

Micro fleeces are the lightest weight blankets. They are designed to be used under a heavier blanket for maximum warmth. They will not keep you very warm by themselves. The next category is hundred weight. These blankets are similar to sweatshirt material in their feel and warmth factor. The most commonly used weight is medium weight. This is what most jackets, vests and blankets are made of. This weight will keep you warm in cold conditions.

fleece blankets are so popular because they are soft, comfortable, retains heat and lightweight. They can be easily carried on a trip or stored away in a closet.  While the fleece throw is not the most technologically advanced product its price cannot be beat.

This is footage of my boys learning how to run a maze in January 2010. They really seem to love this! The softness of the fleece blanket and their natural inclination for dark places go hand-in-hand. These are easy to make too! Just buy a fleece blanket (I got two blankets for at Walgreens). Fold in half an sew the unfolded edges together. Use a maze generator (like www.glassgiant.com ) and then trace the maze onto the blanket with a sharpie. Use a zig-zag stitch and trace the sharpie lines with your sewing machine. Cut the entrances and exits (or you can make the entrances and exits at the edge of the blanket and avoid making cuts). The best part is that there is no reason to strive for sewing perfection. The rats will destroy it or you’ll get bored with it and want to make a new one before lackluster finishing ruins the maze!
