Dog Blanket
by Olfert

Question by lanieanne36: I have an adult female dog that sucks on any cloth or blanket she can get ahold of. How can i stop this?

I use a product called “bitter apple.” This prevents my dog from chewing on her blanket, my shoes, and the furniture. This spray makes whatever it is sprayed on taste terrible, preventing the dog from putting whatever it is in their mouth. I have also never noticed any fabric discoloration as well, making this a great product.

How do you care for newborn bunnies?

Question by georgia_mommy: How do you care for newborn bunnies?
Serious answers only, please. I don’t need anyone telling me to eat them.
I just rescued an adult rabbit from the animal shelter 2 weeks ago. I was told that the workers at the animal shelter didn’t know whether it was a male or a female. I had planned on taking the rabbit to the vet, but before I could, she gave birth to 5 babies. It completely caught me off-guard and I was totally unprepared. She actually gave birth in my son’s blanket on our sofa. As much as I didn’t want to handle the babies, I had to get them off of the furniture and into a box I had filled with soft blankets. I did so about 5 minutes after they were born. All of this took place around 11 am on Monday morning. I have been watching the mother with the babies ever since, and I have yet to see her nurse the little ones. She protects them, but from far away. Occasionally she’ll jump in the box with them, but she gets right back out. I went to the pet store and bought some K.M.R., but I don’t want to use it…
Obviously, it would be best for the mother to feed the babies, but I’m just not sure if she is. Their tummies were fat when they were born, but now they are getting kind of skinny. They seem healthy, but I don’t know if they’ve been fed. If not, how long can they go without food? I’ve ready several articles about this, and everything said not to worry and that the mother feeds them when no one’s looking, but I’ve been keeping a close eye on her. Maybe she’s feeding them when I’m asleep, but is that enough for the babies if so?

i’m not sure but i would like you to know that male parents often eat their young or animals believed to be theirs, so be careful if you ever decide to mix them with a male rabbit

Question by reallyfedup: Do lyou think it is right for an apartment to charge a very high deposit for a pet ?
I think it is ridiculous that my apartments charge 300 for a pet deposit. THere is nothing in my apartment that the cat could tear up that is worth that much. Old dirty carpet, and appliances. I own all the furniture and blinds, etc. The children here destroy more and write on everything and the people throw trash everywhere.

Unfortunately, pet owners can cry all they want (and for the record, I’m on your side about kids tearing up things more), however, there are some things that pets do that children can’t.

If you have a pet, the apartment needs to be sanitized when you leave. What if the next person to move in is highly allergic to cat/dog hair? Secondly, when animals mark their territory (very common, especially when an animal was resident before), it is nearly impossible to remove the odor. Most of the time, the carpet and padding have to both be replaced. This can be pretty costly.

I think there should be a child deposit too.

Dog Cages Are A Must

Dog cages are a must-have for all dog owners and are becoming increasingly popular in the UK as they have a lot of major benefits for both the owner and their dog.

Cages are crucial for keeping your dog safe (as well as your furniture) when they are unsupervised. By keeping your dog inside a spacious cage with food, water and toys while you are out, it prevent your home from being chewed, or soiled.

However, you cannot expect to simply buy a crate and put your dog into it. You need to allow your dog time to get used to a new cage, as a place of his own within the house where he will feel safe and secure. A dog’s reaction to something is based on emotion and instinct, so allow him time to wander into and out of the crate on his own, giving him a treat in the cage, as well as a toy to play with. He will then be reassured that it is safe.

Make sure you purchase a dog crate that allows for good movement of your dog. A dog will want to be able to stand up and turn around and the crate should be of a size where your dog can do this with comfort. If you buy a crate for a puppy, make sure you allow for him to grow, some breeds obviously grow bigger than others but check with your dog crate supplier or you could end up buying another crate for it.

Most cages can be assembled easily and disabled quickly for easy storage, ideal if you are going away and taking your dog with you. You should buy a cage which will stand the test of time and in most cases you get what you pay for, so by investing in a good quality cage, you are saving money in the long run.
