Question by : Does any one know of any pet stores in Chicago that buy baby Apple Snails?
My Apple snail laid and hatched two egg clutches in my 20 gallon tank. Now my tank is over run with the little snails and I can’t bring myself to throw them away. Please help me!

Find someone who keeps clown loaches or fish that eat live foods.
I doubt fish shops will buy these snails as they breed rapidly and are not worth anything.

Question by : Do they separate male from female fish in pet stores?
I’ll see the stores separate some fish (like male and female guppies or male/female bettas) but what about the ones that aren’t labeled by gender? Do they just throw both genders together?
Thanks!

I would imagine they do segregate them, as for them to commingle would lead to overpopulation.

Question by dawnlvsjamie: For parents & pet lovers, I need to know the best brands of baby goods and an opinion on a store idea.?
I’m thinking of opening a retail store and here’s my idea. What I’d like to do is sell baby products, (clothing, toys, diaper bags, & maybe maternity clothes), and pet products, (clothing, toys, beds, collars & leashes, & other novelty items). I’d like to sell higher end, but not extremely expensive things. I’m thinking the name will have something to do with baby, for human babies and people pets who are their babies. I’m not sure on that yet thought. I’d really, really like to know what people think of that idea.
Also, parents….I need your opinions on quality baby gear. I want to know your ideas on everything from clothing to blankets and books. Any advice would help. I want to sell durable, cute goods that people will want to come back for.
All the help I can get would be appreciated. Thank You!

Personally I wouldn’t shop there. A lot of pet stores like Pets Mart and Petco allow animals in there. I would be extremely uncomfortable to have my child in there along with strange animals I have never met. To me, that is asking for someone to sue you for putting their child in danger if someone ever got bit.
What do you think? Answer below!

Question by : What are the chances of opening a pet store and it staying open?
I know there are so many pet stores… but this is what I really want to do with my life
my petstore would be different…
I would have a grooming station and a Photography station within the store… i dont want a huge store… I want more of a boutique.
I would probably want a total of 4 groomers (having 2 work the first 5 hours its open and the second 2 working the last 5 hours its open)
I would want 2 photgraphers… again one working first 5 one working second 5.
I would sell cute doggy clothes/ coats/ halloween costumes, Collars, Leashes, cat &dog toys, Food (but only the healthy non-filler foods), Home made treats, normal treats.
I would not sell any pets… I would however promote the humaine societies in my area.
I would sell beds/blankets/shampoo (other grooming stuff), and then just stuff for dog owners… like those shirts and mugs that say “I love my German Sheperd”
So do you think a store like this would stay open?
I would plan on opening it in an upper-middle or upper class area.
during the holidays we would have santa come in… so people could take picture with their pets and santa!

There is a market out there for pet grooming services. I know of one in my town.
Like any business you need to do your homework on the market, competition and the financial outlays.
